Anne Daniel
Anne is a fibre artist based in Hokitika, creating artworks using mainly plant fibres. Most materials are grown in her garden; some are foraged. She is passionate about harakeke (flax) which forms the basis of much of her work. Anne uses many different basketmaking techniques to create a wide variety of 2D and 3D artworks. She has twice been a finalist for the Parkin Drawing Prize. Her work is influenced by the beautiful, rugged West Coast, especially the bush surrounding her studio and the beach.
